Genius

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid" -Albert Einstein

Someone emailed me this quote and I posted it on my fridge. I am really impressed with it. Sometimes we expect others to be just as good as we are at certain things, but they may never be. They are geniuses of their own, but in different ways. I can whip out a baby bottle in 8 seconds flat. My husband is slower than Christmas. The baby is screaming and he is slowly and methodically making a bottle as if it were a gourmet dinner. Sometimes I just want to jump in and do it all myself because I can do it faster, multitasking at the same time. Anyways, thanks Honey for letting me use you as an example to my point.

The Cave Dweller

This weekend we went exploring with the boys. We went to InnerSpace Caverns. It just made me want to watch Journey to the Center of the Earth. One of the coolest parts was the absolute quiet. No traffic or city noises. No interferences. Some days, I would like to be a cave dweller. The peace and quiet are so appealing. No outside noises. No telephones, tvs, whining children, etc. I also loved that you couldn't tell what time of day it was. No schedules, no I have to do this by this time, etc.
As we emerged from the cave, we had to walk up a long gradual slope. I had a whole new look at the light at the end of the tunnel concept. One thing I realized is that although there is light at the end of the tunnel, I had to keep walking for that light to grow, grow, and eventually completely be revealed. Even baby steps got me closer to the light. The whole focus of my sight was the light. It not only showed me the exit, but also provided enough guidance for the next step.
